Congratulations to SPH’s ‘3 minute thesis’ winners
Wednesday, 3 September 2008The competition, run by the UQ Graduate School, is aimed at helping RHD students communicate their ideas effectively to a range of audiences. It gives candidates three minute to give an engaging and dynamic response to the dreaded question ‘So how’s your thesis going?’ or ‘What are your researching?’.
Only one PowerPoint slide is permitted and students deliver their oration in language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience.
Bradley and Vittal will now complete in the Faculty round on September 12. The UQ Final will be on September 23, with the eventual winner and runner-up to present their three-minute thesis at the Research Week Industry Dinner at Customs House on September 28.
Judges in the SPH round were Darren Gray and Rosa Alati. RHD co-ordinator, Professor Gail Williams, said, “All the presentations were excellent … the final scores were very close.”
