Nutrition Unit

The Nutrition Unit’s research and teaching agenda centres on the role of nutrition in the public health agenda. Particular emphasis is placed on the nutrition transition – that is, from undernutrition to overnutrition and obesity -- occurring in most countries of the world, including Australia, and on:

  1. understanding the causes and nature of these changes, and
  2. translating this into programs and policies that are effective in this changing environment.

The Bachelor of Applied Science (Food Science and Nutrition) is the ideal program for those interested in studying nutrition at an undergraduate level. Graduates of this program can transition into any of the School of Population Health’s postgraduate programs.
